Profile Information

About Me:
Secondnature is a UK, Cheshire based, creative partnership between Ian Turnock, a graphic designer and Susan Laughton, a fine artist. Ian graduated in 1987, working in design studios until founding his own company in 2000. Susan worked in architecture before returning to college to study art, graduating in 2002.
About My Art:
Secondnature cross the boundaries of art and design to create innovative and distinctive abstract metal sculpture. Our unconventional approach combines a graphic designer’s eye for line and pattern with a fine artist’s feel for materials and texture. The work is inspired by the wild yet decorative aspects of nature focusing on silhouettes, shadows and movement of leaf, branch, light and flame. Elements of chance and play are used to digitally create organic shapes which are then refined, developed and cut into edgy, dynamic, abstract sculptural forms.
Favorite Music:
The Clash, Bob Marley, Radiohead, Joe Strummer, Martha Wainwright, Eels, Kate Bush, The Flaming Lips, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Goldfrapp, Fleet Foxes,
Favorite Films:
Cool Hand Luke, Lost in Translation, The Shawshank Redemption, Sideways, Little Miss Sunshine, The Godfather, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, The Life of Brian, Betty Blue,
Favorite Artists:
Mother Nature, Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley, Andy Goldsworthy

Thanks for the comment! One of my great passions is typography and bring that passion to my art has really opened up many possibilities for expression.

Hiya,
This particular gallery is quite good at contacting me with details of fairs and show opportunities but the fees are crazy! I also doubt their drive to promote after I shwed with them and they didn't deliver their side of the bargain at all. I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same as what I am. It seems crazy that artists cannot enter this Fair independently, you can only enter through a gallery. ;/body>
