Profile Information

About Me:
Larisa (Clegg) Colantonio is a wife, a mother and an artist with a twist. Known for her Pensaic style of art, she runs off of raw emotion and bends it with her mind to create something truly unique.
She is a woman who suffered many losses early in her life. At the tender age of 7, her own mother was suddenly taken from her due to a sudden illness. This is when the expressive artist in her was born.
Once she was in high school, through the open mindedness of her art teacher she was able to create a style of art known as pensaic. From there she flourished. Pensaic art became the outlet for her soul and mind.
As she entered adulthood, she found that painting with acrylic was also a very good way for her
to express herself. On occasion, you will find that she has even combined her acrylic painting with her pensaic style.
About My Art:
My art is an expression of me. Plain and simple. The images from my mind combined with my feelings at that moment are what produce my style of art. Many of my paintings are raw emotion whereas many of my pensaic are a way of expressing a long term issues or feelings.
Favorite Artists:
Modigliani, M.C.Escher, Dali

Thirty two

That one last breath
but a moment in time
One final gasp of air affecting the world
Strength
coming from within as I grow in a new light
The turning point presented
the question "What now?"
The answer, I have always known
This is MY life

Today's Epiphany

So, today i decided to rearrange my living room. In the middle of all of this chaos i reflected back to when i used to paint and draw back before i met my husband. I used to rearrange my living space weekly! After i met my husband we started a family and my art was put on hiatus up until this year. I stopped rearranging. So all of these thoughts went racing through my mind. Do i rearrange for inspiration? Do I rearrange to change my feelings? What is it about changing things that helps my creati… Continue

Something i noticed

It is kind of curious how we notice our own quirks sometimes. I was looking at some photos and noticed that i always go backwards through albums, i keep hitting previous rather than next. I have never been a conventional magazine reader either. I flip through from the back of a magazine to the front. When i fill out forms i begin at the top left hand side, work my way across, and then down the right hand side of the paper only to go across and back up to the left hand corner. Strange i know.....… Continue

Many thanks for accepting my invite, Larisa.

There's an idea from your profile pic, which I'm crystallizing in my head. I see three planes - you (in real life), besides your Pensaic art self-portrait (right?), then of course the photo of "both" of you (which, interesting, renders things into art). Somehow, in some way, it reminds me of how Picasso - in his Cubist age - unpacks both reality and abstraction into different planes.

May I write a poem, at some point, of your profile pic - as poetry is one of my main avenues for working through artistic and philosophical musings? ;)

Cheers,

Ron

Thanks Larisa, I'm glad it intrigues you. I'm a big fan mystery. That path leads to a magical forest full of fairies, fireflys and elves!

Thank you so much Larisa for your comments - yes patterns are very important in my work and likewise I see a lot of use of interlocking patterns in your work that I find very intreaguing!
