Whether it's power to spark the imagination was deliberately executed or not.... it certainly 'tickled' and through us shone in 'gasping'' ways, we'd never thought. All 'jesting' aside...it could be a winner if submitted in a competition, Bobby....…

No doubt about that, Janet....mad as a 'Hatter' the lot of us! Life's too short to remain sane all the time, is it not. We live by your wonderful phrase 'Vive la Difference'! :-) What a handsome man your Daddy must've been, Bobby! I'm proud to tell…

Oh....so sorry Janet....I didn't see your last comment. My sincere apologies for sounding so abtruse...the conversation seemed to have drifted off into the hills surrounding Glasgow, I'm afraid. Esoteric's the word! :-) :-) I'd meant to say, I'd sea…

Oooooh errrh.....just heard a dreadful growling noise coming from the Campsie Hills...it sounded just like my friend 'Kola'....he must've followed me all the way from London Zoo, Bobby! :-) Bless him. Your pudding's safe Bobby......unless it's choco…

Arisara....I can't thank you enough for the compliments ...especially regarding 'Hockney'...whom I've always worshipped (those swimming pools, years ago...and his figurative compositions....his sketch books I saw at an exhibition in the R.A. London,…

EXACTLY what I suspected....although I'm too much of a 'Lady' to have said so, myself! :-) I'm guessing Janet thought likewise & also 'couldn't possibly comment' on it?? P.S: 'Hairy legs' is a nice way of putting it...but I wasn't able to think of t…

I'm drawn to see this in the negative...and daren't tell you what the image is....very clever, very cool, I must agree!

Can just imagine you running down this path parrallel to those nasty wolves! hahahahaha ...must admit....it looks so tranquil.

Stunning sunlight/shadows in this secret, intimate forest....BLOOMING MARVELLOUS stuff, Bobby!

This one is my fav.....it looks so surreal with that little bush appearing to give-out 'puffs' of 'smoke' that form clouds in the sky. Truly marvellous, Bobby!

OMG! That's one BIG warm garment/coat, for sure.....it's like a blanket! Never noticed this one before....when was it taken.....before June, presumably? Hope you feeling a little warmer by now, Bobby! :-)

Do you mean the 'original' one Curt...I mean, of you next to it in a gallery somewhere...or do you also have a reproduction of it, like I had for 15years.....and only recently used the frame for one of my own pieces....it's still underneath, though.…

I have a picture of myself next to the Picasso you're emulating. Love the piece!

Profile Information

About Me:
Born in Glasgow, Scotland but left to spend 13yrs in Tring,Watford & Bushey in the South East,England eventually returning North once again to my native city in 2000. My school years encouraged my interests in all the arts to include drama, ballet, singing, writing, interior design, drawing & painting (the 'order of merit' being subject to whatever the current priorities happened to be). While in the South East, I decided to enroll as an Art student once again at West Herts College , which renewed my 1st. love in drawing. painting&design. I returned home & immediately enrolled at the GSA (Charles Rennie McIntosh's Glasgow School of Art) for a 'Masters Class'...after that my time was split between renovating our new home, interior decorating/design, supporting my daughter in her ambition to study Fine Art @ the G.S.A. (achieved turning 17 yrs) & then my interests turned full circle to drama & producing sets/designs while taking part in performance. Over the last decade I've longed for the day when I'd get the opportunity to return to drawing & painting & Woohoo!...I believe its finally arrived!
About My Art:
my preferred method is to start any new work with figurative drawing from life, using a sketchbook, either indoors or by observation while travelling & use those to inspire larger works..now I'd like to learn to loosen-up & paint abstractly. Alternative method is by memory & recalling special moments from my past. My preferred medium is dry pastel although I've used all other mediums when I feel it's neccessary for what I'm attempting to achieve, like using my photography & magazines for collage work in printmaking/design.
Studied? Exhibitions?
West Herts College-Art & Design, 1995-97 GSA masterclass Life Drawing & Painting 2001
Favorite Music:
Opera & Jazz, Classical to Pop, almost every every genre there is....so long as it's 'done well'....i.e: doesn't 'offend' my sensitive ear.
Favorite Films:
Off the top of my head? Gaslight, North by North West, Angry Young Man, A Streetcar Named Desire, Moulin Rouge, On Golden Pond, High Fidelity, Brideshead Revisited, Amelie, Secrets& Lies, The Camomile Lawn, , Rebecca, Breakfast @ Tiffany's, A Room with a View, Last Year in Marienbad, Jayne Eyre & of course every 'girl's' obligatory 'Wizard of Oz' & the unforgettable Colin Firth's 'wet-look' performance as Mr. Darcy in 'Pride & Prejudice'.....ooooooh...errrrrrh!!!
Favorite Artists:
Picasso, George Grosz, Ernst Ludwig Kirshner, Otto Dix,Magritte,Max Beckmann, Kirshner, Millais, Frank Auerbach,Freud, Hockney, Alan Jones, Rembrandt, Da Vinci....the Pre-Raphallites, Expressionists...the world's full of Genius, past & present!!

An Ode to life

'Oh, for the Wings of a Dove'

We have good days and bad days,
Bright days and blue,
Days full of sweetest song,
And days when knives pierce through

Days so uplifting
Like ballooons in the sky,
Days when we thin

Mother's Day

'Mother's Day'.

Mother said, 'what's done is done'
Mother said, 'don't cry when I'm gone'
but 'Mother's Day' comes round each year
Who'll take my flowers, who'll share a tear, with me.

A silly wee limerick to accompany 'A life in One Day' -Henry VIII

While servants slaughtered God's creatures
and prepared to satisfy
a powerful and insatiable Master
had other fish to fry

While cooks did chop with skillfull muscle
and seared with equal care
the herbs & spices added
for a dish beyond compare

His bell

Looking Back with Hindsight

As dusk slides through their windows
The heart begins to swell
And from those toes the tingle grows
It's time for them to dwell
With tenderness and rapid pulse
Now they must set the stage
For their hearts only comes redress
As all account each page.

The Dawn sparks brand new chapters
With colours bright and strong
Please do not scold that which is ours
If youth be yours for long
For them the colours have become
In dusk, more rich with time… Continue

Bluebells of My Mind-a little token for all those times when we feel the need to 'escape'.

Be careful please while tiptoe treading,
This precious place is not for any
Heavy footed, clumsy fools,
With little mind to stick to rules.

Ssssh...and you will hear the echo
While bells do sway and touch each other
Then too their perfume they will share
With those of us who really care
For everything that truly matters
In this our lives full of disaster.

Breathe in their light and heaven scent
And never hurt those liquid stems
Behold the beauty of their colour
It's not a blue like any other

Riddle for all Insomniacs

When I lay me down to sleep
No use have I for counting sheep
Nor more does sound of waters lap
Each side of bough where once I sat
Ease any more the dark and fears
As once it did in bygone years

When once the sight of Herons waiting
To rise in flight as boats were pa… Continue

Crowdsourcing Art | Neon Burns

Crowdsourcing art is just what we do. This week we have the wonderful Debra D’Breau to showcase. Her digitally enhanced art is beguilingly brash & bold. Her confidence in lustrous form erupts in a high-octane contrast. Each image whips viewers in the gut and her powerful pictures leave a long-lasting sensory hit. She is a [...]
