I love the colour pallet of this, and I agree with Gheorghe, beautiful.

Lucy, I've only just dropped in on this discussion and as I'm too busy right now to expand on what Thomas has said I would say this: Thomas is right about the Italian art market. We talked about it many months ago - it is non-existent. My Italian pa…

Well that was quick- I only put up the painting 2 minutes ago ! Thanks Mary Christine. And I like this one of yours very much. I hope I've planted the right one on the page .... Encaustic is such a beautiful medium.

Profile Information

About Me:
Education: Lycée français de Londres
Swiss school in Villars
Rebel debutante (ran away from my own 'coming out' ball !)
St Martins Art School
A late developer due to circumstances, mainly beyond my control, meant working even harder than most to become the painter I had always wanted to be since childhood - such bad luck as galleries are only interested in very young artists straight out of art school .... talk about age discrimination !
Anyway, please note, here I am, looking for a serious gallery to show my work - and there's a lot of it !
Otherwise, anyone can give me a buzz to see my paintings at the huge studio I am fortunate to have in Eygalières - it is also my own gallery space where I meet so many interesting people, buyers or not.

Bye for now ....
About My Art:
Figurative, expressionist, whatever ? It just happens .... but in a workaholic frenzy.
I so often ask myself, why am I compelled to produce paintings when it is the last item on people's shopping list, especially in tumultuous times like these ?
I only wish I knew ..... but most painters live long lives so I might have time enough to answer my own question.
Favorite Music:
Opera
Monteverdi
Bach (all)
Schubert - piano and chamber music
Richard Strauss
Beethoven - sonatas and chamber music
Schostakovitch
Chopin
Quite a lot of Bartok
etc.etc...
Favorite Films:
Don't go much although 'The Pianist' by Roman Polanski would rate as one of the most moving and best films I've ever seen, as does Cabaret and most of the creations of Bob Fosse.
'Shadowlands' is also on my list, definitely, if only for the acting.
Any old black and white films with Cary Grant !!
Favorite Artists:
Too many to enumerate although Vermeer, Egon Schiele, Hopper would rate very high as would Rothko, everyone's choice it would seem .... Last but not least, Jenny Saville, who is the most brilliant painter I know of today.

Dear Carolyn,
No, not very old but not new either. Your answer was a bit confusing, I asked you to be my friend, but also saw that you belong to four groups. That's why.

Hi Lawrence, thanks for your comment and apologies for my late reply. I've been laid up with bronchitis. 'specially pleased you picked out one of my latest :'work in progress' - So many friends have said "leave it as it is" I'm letting it sit around for a while. Maybe they're right.
